Chad Mowrey Personal Info: My first experience with volleyball was in Junior High. I started playing volleyball with some friends over a chain-link fence on an asphalt court during lunchtime. Around that same time, I began playing beach volleyball. I attended Mira Costa High school and made the freshmen team at a dominating height of 5'2". After growing 10 inches over the next four years of high school, I earned a starting outside-hitter position my senior year. That season I received the "Best Passer Award." After High School, I played one year of volleyball at El Camino College in Torrance, CA. I then transferred to Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA where I won a State Championship. In the summer of 2001, I qualified for my first professional beach volleyball tournament at the AVP Hermosa Beach Open and finished in 9th place. Only a select few players have ever taken a top 10 finish their first time qualifying for a professional tournament. In my career, I have over 10 top ten AVP finishes. My Father John Mowrey was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and My Mother Rebecca Mowrey was born in Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines. I have two brothers, Alan and Ryan. I was born in the small town of Tahoka, Texas. I am very excited to be representing the Philippines in our Olympic bid because I know that really I will be representing the best of the values that my parents passed on to me from their homelands. I know I am fortunate to be able to call two countries my home.
